(Photo via Bronco Demo Team)We were sad to learn that one of Bronco Demo Team's OV-10B Broncos crashed at Cotswold Airport in Kemble, England, on the afternoon of July 10, 2012. Following the crash, pilot and owner Tony De Bruyn, the sole occupant of the aircraft, was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol with serious injuries. Tony is a long-time OBA member and head of the German Wing of the OBA (GWOBA) as well as the leader of the popular "Bronco Demo Team" which has gained many fans for their exciting Bronco flying displays at airshows around western Europe.

We will not know for a while what caused the crash, though it appears that the aircraft impacted the ground hard during a practice session for an upcoming airshow. Photos published in the media show the aircraft apparently impacted hard, skidded, and broke up into several sections. There was a post-crash fire. Nobody on the ground was hurt but authorities closed Cotswold Airport in order to fully investigate.

The Bronco Demo Team, based in Belgium, has three Broncos, all ex-Luftwaffe B-models originally used as aerial gunnery target tugs. The aircraft that crashed, serial number 99+32 / registration G-GZBK, had performed at the Royal International Air Tattoo in Fairford the weekend before the crash.

Please keep Tony and his family in your prayers.
