Got a long awaited phone call this morning [10/07/04], full of good news.
As many of you know, part of our OBA/FACM expansion is a Memorial Air Park. One of our long standing members, Jim "Boomer" Bloomberg has been working for years developing the plan for an air park that will eventually comprise at least 20 FAC or FAC controlled aircraft from all services. From the beginning of OBA, over six years ago, Boomer has been our Aircraft Acquisition Specialist. Not a week has gone by that he hasn't had news of various aircraft and the potential of a possible static display airplane here or there and what it would take to acquire, transport and setup here at the museum. There have been lots of blind alleys and wild goose chases. That is, until today.
This morning Boomer called to notify me that we will very soon have loan documents in hand to receive an F-4S or more correctly a QF-4S. We have a lot of work ahead of us to disassemble, transport and reassemble the aircraft once it is here, but the first aircraft for the Memorial Air Park has been secured.
More details to follow, but for now a big ATTA BOY to Boomer. His tireless efforts have secured us a Rino to initiate our air park.
Bravo Zulu Boomer!
