OBA Update - December 9, 2000
SUMMARY: New member, Bronco flyer out, Randall's/Tom Thumb/Safeway Good Neighbor Program info, year-end tax deduction reminder. |

Hi folks,
Couple of quick items tonight. First an foremost I have a special new member to introduce and then some commercialism.
Please welcome aboard Thanh Ho (Thanho@dancom.com.au) Thanh was with the Vietnamese Air Force, Observation Squadron 110 in Danang during '69-'72. That was a "Bird Dog" unit. He is living in Lakemba BC, NSW Australia. That makes a total of four members "down under." I think that is enough for a Wing.
If you haven't already gotten it, you should soon be receiving your latest edition of the "Bronco Flyer." Tammi Bush at Maney aircraft did another fine job and graciously inserted an OBA fact sheet for all of you to see what has been happening behind the scenes. Thanks Tammi.
We have just been approved to participate in the Randall's/Tom Thumb/Safeway Good Neighbor Program. If you are not familiar with it, it is a way to donate to your favorite non profit organization without it costing you anything. At participating Randall's, Tom Thumb and Safeway grocery stores you can get a "Reward Card" free of charge. That in and of itself will get you some discounts, but if you ask them to attach our account number, 9199, they will donate 1% to OBA at no cost to you. Everybody wins. I know for certain the program is available in Texas. We are trying to get clarification on participation in other states.
So, please, if you have a Tom Thumb, Randall's or Safeway "Reward Card", we would appreciate you adding account number 9199 to your cards. Then "buy early and buy often." I will keep you advised of how it goes, but we won't know anything until the end of the 1st quarter of next year. We are anticipating some big expenses in the future and need to build up our finances. We are also applying for other such programs with Albertson's and Kroger.
That's it for now. Oh yeah, if you think you are going to need a tax deduction at year end, don't forget OBA. We are a 501(c)3 non profit corporation. Donations are tax deductible and we can provide documentation for a donation. Just a thought.
Thanks for reading.
Best regards,
Jim "Grump" Hodgson
